One of the garden Buddhas keeps the peace while, under last year's leaves, some of the new kids are starting to show up.

Or maybe spring happens because the Buddha is dreaming up green!

I ordered sweet little (old) cups and saucers but sadly, they arrived broken.
On the other hand, a mandala bloomed. . .

As February was National Cake Month, I have been taking more interest in cakes. Imagine my surprise, driving to the Veterinarian's yesterday, to find a car in front of me advertising Fake Cakes For Weddings. A little internet investigation shows that this is a good business to get into, apparently. You present a beautiful fake on the main table and then feed your guests, as one company said, "Cheap sheet cake." What about the guests who get drunk and eat the styrofoam, covered with real icing?
That's what I'm wondering. . .

A little Rx for this abundant snow in March -- turn your journal green!

One day it's beach chairs. The next day, ducks in the snow. These particular ducks waddle up from the river nearly every day and situate themselves just below the bird feeder. Chickadees knock down the seed and the getting-fatter ducks feast.

इ finally figured out how to use a digital camera and today went out looking for signs of spring. I found stalwart little armies of crocus, lots of buds but the most heartwarming
sight was a row of beach chairs lined up on someone's driveway, facing the sun. But also facing a big snowbank! I'll be keeping those chairs in mind -- even if it does snow tonight!
